Senior Designer
Briefly describe your professional experiences:
After graduating from design school I was determined to find a place that would allow me to explore both the conceptual as well as the practical parts of the design process. I found that working in a studio allowed me both creativity and involvement from the initial development of ideas through the final press check or launch. After 10 years of working as both a designer and project manager, I also have developed a love of working with people and helping them develop the best visual communications to achieve their business goals. After working solely on the account side of the business for the past two years, I am thrilled to be back balancing both my design and people skills to create a great experience for my clients, and theirs.
Education:
University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, BFA in Graphic Design and Typography

Why did you choose the career direction that brought you to Barrett Communications?
I designed my first logo at 16 in high school. It was for our city's centennial celebration. I loved seeing the logo I created on stationery, buttons, t-shirts, and banners. That was when I knew I wanted to be a graphic designer. Since design school I have worked in a number of design studios, and even a direct marketing creative agency. Barrett allows me the ability to do what I love; create visual communications which help our clients succeed in their business, no matter what the medium.
What three principles or rules apply to every day of your life at Barrett Communications?
1. Passion. I love design. Design as an art and design as a business. I find great reward in sharing my passion for design with our clients and helping them to achieve greater things than they could have imagined for themselves.
2. Personality. It's all about personality. The personality of the client, the studio, and the individuals in it--and how together we can make great things and make things great.
3. Problem Solving. I love the challenge of understanding a business goal and partnering with our clients to uncover a solution through visual communications. As a designer I can think outside of the box, add a new perspective, or offer an alternative solution that may not have been thought of--and it's all part of doing my job.
What do you do when you're not working?
Having a three year old son keeps me busy enough, but I love cars, flowers, naps, home organization TV shows (really I do!), and spending time with family and friends. |
